You may not be too familiar with it, but trust me you will want to get involved. Location Based Service is set be worth $10 Billion by 2016. So what exacly is Location Based Service (LBS), it is a service you can use through mobile devices to make use of your geographical position. It allows you to identify the location of a person or an object.
Fedex can use LBS to track their packages or to track their delivery trucks. Websites such as
DailyCandy send me their daily e-mail because i am located in Boston. My GPS has a "Points of interst" function on it so i can locate the closest ATM or gas station. And the T is now using LBS in order to track their T and bus services.
According to a report in the
LA Times due to popular demand of tracking locations on using maping, the LBS industry can reach $10 billion per year by 2016.
So, its time to go "check in" on my facebook page !
